What is scrape torrent?

Scrape torrent is a technique used by torrent clients to gather information about peers in a swarm. When a client requests a list of peers, the tracker sends back a list of IP addresses and port numbers of computers currently seeding (uploading) or leeching (downloading) the file. The tracker also includes information about the last time each peer was seen and the percent of the file it has available for upload or download.

Scraping the torrent refers to the process of requesting this information from the tracker. Torrent clients use scraping to update their list of available peers and to optimize their connections to other computers in the swarm. The more up-to-date the list of peers, the faster the download speeds and the higher the overall health of the torrent.

Scraping can be performed manually by clicking on the “update tracker” button in the torrent client or automatically at regular intervals set by the user. Some torrent clients also offer the ability to scrape multiple trackers simultaneously, further enhancing the speed and reliability of the download.
